Dive into python

This book uses some really good sample projects to introduce you to the core of Python: lists, dictionaries, list comprehensions, generators, test driven development etc. I really liked the approach of footnoting and discussing each line in the code.

I bought the print copy of Dive Into Python '20 May 2004' and regret it.The 2009 SoHo Books edition is just a reprint of an earlier edition; it isn't updated for current production Python.

Mark Pilgrim's Dive Into Python books are exactly what they say they are: a way to jump straight into Python development. This is both a benefit and an hindrance.
